Self-Help Exercises:

Authentic Journeys - Global Transitions Made Easier
Introduction to self-help exercises from Authentic Journeys

Transcript of Introduction Audio:
Hi Everyone! I am Jennifer Kumar from Authentic Journeys and Alaivani.com.
How are you?
All of us, in our lifetime, have different kind of goals and achievements that we are aspiring to, different things we are looking forward to in life. And to get to those things, we have to achieve different things, and we might have different steps to getting to our goal. Sometimes the steps might seem pretty easy and clear cut and straight forward, but other times those steps are kind of confusing. Maybe sometimes we take three steps up and four steps back, so we feel like we’re not really making any progress. Sometimes we actually feel like we’ve stepped up two, and feel like we’ve fallen off the staircase altogether and wonder if we can get back on our path, while others of us kind of keep going around in circles. Hitting one obstacle, maybe achieving that obstacle, but the next obstacle is so difficult for us to achieve that we’re kind of running around in circles trying to figure out when are we gonna get past this.

I’ve been on that journey with different kinds of goals I’ve tried to achieve, especially when we’re trying to go through some kind of transition in our lives. Whether that’s moving to another country, adjusting to a new lifestyle, like if we get married, get a new job, have a new social circle of friends. Whatever the transition in life is that forces us to look at life differently can pose new challenges in overcoming obstacles. Sometimes they may actually help us overcome our obstacles, too, so there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel.

I was thinking today that sometimes we find the answers to the questions that we’re asking help with in the most unexpected places. Sometimes the questions we’re looking for aren’t even anything we expect. But, the questions actually provide us with answers we are looking for. Unless we are bombarded by questions, all different kinds of questions, and not just the typical set of questions or the questions we’ve heard throughout our lives, then we start to think about things from different perspectives.

One of my goals for offering mini courses on self-development is that- to give you a different perspective on different questions we can ask ourselves. Different ways of approaching different situations in our lives to help us overcome different things and overcome our obstacles and go through life transitions a little bit more smoothly.

Any of these exercises can be used on your own. You can just take a piece of paper and a pen and write down your answers and ponder over them when you have time. You can take these questions to your friends and family and talk it over with them. See what they have to say. They can also answer the questions, and you can do it together, it can be a bonding experience to get to learn things from different people in your life. Or, of course, you can always give me a call and we can talk through these exercises together, or any other exercises. Or if you’re just facing a transition that you want some help with.

I am more than happy to help you. My phone number is 585-387-9325.

Worlds, Feelings and Life Actions

HI Everyone, I am Jennifer Kumar a cultural mentor and coach. Are you in transition? Have you recently moved around the world or across the street? Are you facing some changes in your life? Are you trying to adjust to a new lifestyle or culture? I will present some ideas on self-development exercises you can use on your own or with me when possible. Take a listen and feel free to contact me to explore further!

Name of this exercise is: Words, Feelings and Life Actions

What words describe your life as it is?
What are your thoughts about those words?
Do you like those words? Do you want to add new words or delete some words from the list?
How does it feel?
Pick one word from your list that makes you feel AWESOME!
Why does it make you feel so good?
Pick one word from the list that makes you feel not-so-good.
Why does it make you feel like that?
Pick a word you want to add into the list – what is it and how can we add that word into your current life?
How does it make you feel to add in that new word? How do you envision your life being different because of adding the word and the feelings you associate with it into your life? How can this word be added into your life? Want to create goals around incorporating this into your life?

Want to work on this exercise together??
We can! Give me a call at 585-387-9325
Rates are $25 an hour.
